American Chopper returns April 25th

American Chopper is returning to the air on April 25th and Discovery wants to address the rumors that this is staged. How do they do that? By interviewing themselves of course! Considering how much of reality television is scripted, it’s no wonder that people, myself included, are wondering about the reality here. One can easily assume, for example that the time Senior just happened to drive by Junior’s shop was an event that was intentionally scripted. Bottom line is they want to tell people that the conflict itself is real. I think most of us believe that some of the conflicts we see are staged. You decide. Here’s a preview of the interview and the promo video.Quote from the article:
DISCOVERY INSIDER: First of all, the American Chopper promo looks amazing. Congratulations. How did the idea come about? TYLER: Thanks! We'd heard early on that this next run of shows might include a sponsored build-off -- a competition where Senior and Junior would literally create two rival bikes and the sponsor would pick a winner. That was a really cool idea to us ... it seemed like the sort of thing the fans have been waiting for. So we started to rally around the thought of the guys squaring off against each other and cooked up a bunch of ideas. There was just one catch, though ... DISCOVERY INSIDER: They wouldn't shoot together. TYLER: Right. Which makes it kinda hard to stage a showdown! DISCOVERY INSIDER: Some people think that the fighting is all for show. TYLER: Yeah, we can tell you from experience that it isn't! |

Rick Petko get's in fist fight with Paul Senior. April Fool's?

“Rick finally lost it! He got into a fist fight with Senior and quit OCC. Rick is free at last!!”
Sounds like an April’s Fools day joke to me but as I have mentioned we have heard this rumor for some time now. I doubt Senior would allow it to be posted like this if it was for real. Just like when Vinnie and others left, very little was covered about it.
Rick's latest update from his Facebook page was just 3 days ago when he said "Back from Texas, working on our build-off bike, gettin ready for Alaska, hangin with a special someone, lovin life......"
We will update when we hear more.

Daytona Bike Week 2011: Videos

I visited Daytona Bike Week 2011 this past weekend for a few days. We tried to keep busy riding and enjoying the sites and here are a few of those including the Wall of Death at the Iron Horse Saloon. These first 4 videos are in the order that the “Wall of Death” show are done making it the next best thing to being there! Be sure to check out how close the lady driving gets to the camera in video #2 and the rider grabbing dollar bills out of your hand and some great ending stunts in video #3. The following videos feature bikes cruising Main Street and a couple of videos of the “Loop”. Naturally the Loop videos are a little shaky with a decent bit of motorcycle and wind noise so you might neeed to turn down your volume. It was easiest to just hold the camera and go. I hope you enjoy them.Read more

Orange County Chopper motorcycles have been available for viewing at their large facility and trade shows for many years now. Paul Jr. on the other hand has only built a few motorcycles up to this point, many of which you could only see on TV or a few photos… until now. A new Photo Gallery is now online featuring the Anti-Venom, Geico Bike, Carolina Carports and the Faro Bike.Paul Jr. Designs releases new wheels with Renegade Wheels

Paul Jr. Designs has released some new wheels through Renegade Wheels. They have a great reputation and the designs are actually pretty hot! I might consider these for my 11 Wide Glide. The release seems like a bit of a mess however as I can’t find mention of it on the Paul Jr. website and I only found the link from his Twitter account. The fun continues on the Renegade Wheels website as I can’t find them mentioned in their news or wheel listings. It looks like there are 2 wheels and an air cleaner. Chrome or black and chrome Trinity wheels or black and chrome Rapture wheels and matching air cleaner. No mention of matching pulleys? Nice design all the same. Photo and link to the wheels follows...Read more

Haven't heard much from the Hells Angels motorcycle club lately in Arizona? That doesn't mean there isn't a lot going on. There's word the motorcycle club known for its violent past is recruiting heavily in Arizona -- and the question is why.
The Hells Angels motorcycle gang in Arizona is rumored to be recruiting.
"They're the biggest baddest most powerful motorcycle company in the world," says Steve Tretheway, who spent 25 years with Arizona DPS.

This is no surprise for me. As a former New Yorker, I realize the costs of trying to run a motorcycle operation out of a business this size when you really don’t’ sell a lot of motorcycycles. Too bad he didn’t plan in advance and mix in a Harley Davidson dealership so he would have had a chance. The TV show and merchandising can’t support a business of this size for long considering the properties and car you see that Senior owns.

The Blackline™ is a Harley-Davidson® Softail® pared to the bone. Visual elements of the original bobber movement are combined with the raw, hand-hewn style embraced by today's young builders. The rear fender is bobbed high-and-tight over a slim, 144 mm tire that emphasizes an authentic hardtail profile. The compact headlight and speedometer are tucked low into the wide, FX front end. The rider hugs the frame on the lowest two-up seat we offer, and reaches high for the new Split Drag™ handlebar that bolts right to the top triple-clamp.Read more

The EV-neo is an electric scooter developed for businesses such as transport of heavy goods or delivery services and which delivers a clean and quiet ride without compromising powerfulness. The vehicle qualifies as a first-class motor-driven cycle in Japan, for engine displacements of 50cc or less.
Honda plans to deliver about 100 monitoring vehicles between December 2010 and March 2011 to cooperating businesses in the monitoring program*1 for collecting riding data and other useful information and to start lease sales of the EV-neo to general businesses and individual business owners in April 2011. The wide range of data collected from actual business use together with the data obtained from test operations*2 of 10 prototype vehicles, conducted since October 2010, is expected to be used in future development of electric scooters and motorcycles.

Police raid Hells Angels bikers allegedly planning rival murder

German police staged raids against the Hells Angels motorcycle gang in three states on Monday morning, searching for evidence of plans to murder a rival group member, prosecutors reported.Quote from the article:
More than 900 officers took part in searching 22 apartments and four other buildings in Baden-Württemberg, Rhineland-Palatinate and Bavaria. They had an arrest warrant for at least one Hells Angels member on charges of attempted murder, prosecutors in the Baden-Württemberg town of Pforzheim said. The raids came in response to a brawl in late November between the Hells Angels and an association of doormen called United Tribuns. At least three gang members were injured during the fight in Pforzheim, with one person sustaining life-threatening wounds. Shots were fired during the clash, after which police arrested more than 20 suspects. |

Japanese manufacturer Honda today took the wraps off a model that is set to conquer the world, filling in the huge gap between its 125cc and 600cc sportbikes. A model very much anticipated until now, the design of the newly launched 2011 Honda CBR250R is inspired from the 2010 Honda VFR1200F sports tourer and the CBR1000RR sportbike. Paul Jr. has posted a couple of teasers for the latest two builds. We don’t know what or who these bikes are for yet, only that he is in Fort Lauderdale and on his way to Orlando for some fun with his team. I tweeted back in the hopes of a peek but he mentioned no one can see it until it airs on TV. So far, the bikes he has built have been sweet while OCC continues to build embarrassing cartoonish pieces, so we look forward to the next 2 unveils. Anyway, here are the teaser shots posted...Read more
