1982 Incredible, Restored 1982 Dodge Rampage

Fans of the wild and unusual, we've got another one to throw at you! (Have we really lost our minds this time?) Sporty styling with functionality?what could be better? (Is this rhetorical?) This one's got fresh paint over rust free sheet-metal! (No, we can't believe someone kept one this nice, either)

Rampage guys and gals we know you're not getting your due. Your rides are cool, but they're definitely outside the norm for show cars, they're not old enough to be classics and they're underappreciated. It's nearly impossible to find one that isn't beat to death, and if you do it's not for sale?no one sells a quality Rampage! A three-year production run of just over 27,000 units rivals the tri-five Nomad's output, and a payload capacity of 1100 pounds hauls a LOT of stuff! We found a trio of dead mint Fieros ("everyone knows" those aren't collectables, either) and we sold them out for way over book, and now we're here with the cleanest Rampage you'll ever find!

Take a look at the pictureswe're not kidding about its condition. Start with the body and its just-about-what-the-whole-car-is-worth paint job. Painted in the '82 sport edition-specific Graphic Red with Spitfire Orange sticker set you're not going to sink into the shadows! The rust free body was stripped down to nothing before being coated in straight, flat paint which extends into the door jambs, the full bed and onto the shock towers and cowl in the engine compartment. If you stop now, you couldn't buy a rust free Rampage and paint the body this well for our asking price, and you'd be nowhere near a complete truck! The rubber nose is in excellent shape and not deformed like so many are. Out back, its cargo carrying capacity has obviously been kept to show supplies, as there isn't a single scratch in the bed. The rallye wheels with their 195/60/14 B F Goodrich Radial T/A tires are near mint. The glass is perfect as is the optional tonneau cover. Just like the brochure says it's "one of the niftiest little pickups you'll ever see!"

Inside, you're in for a treat. You'll find fresh carpeting, a fresh headliner and more. If it wasn't mint in here, it was simply replaced. Those are sport edition-specific seats, and they're very comfortable. The center console and shifter are in excellent shape, as are the full gauges. The dash is in excellent condition as are the door panels. The optional radio (with both AM and FM) works as it should, and there's cruise control on the turn signal stalk. There's adequate room for two and space behind the seats?you'll find places to put more stuff than you'd think!

Open the hood and check out the 2.2 liter motor. There's a new battery, a fresh tune up and fresh fluids. The motor is very quiet without the typical valve clatter associated with the 2.2. the paint on the frame rails and core support is original while the paint in the back is new and matches the exterior. A twist of the key fires the motor, and it'll knock down fuel mileage on par or better than a new Honda Fit!

Peek underneath and find the chassis covered in epoxy paint. Most of these things came factory with frame rail rot (a friend of ours had his transaxle fall out!) but there are ZERO issues here. The floors, bottom of the bed, the side rails, front and rear sub-frames and suspension pieces are all rock solid. The brakes and suspension were gone through at the time of the repaint and have seen nice weather only since then!
