2010-'11 Subaru Legacy and Outback Recalled, Stop-Sale Order Issued

Just the Facts:
  • Subaru is recalling 809 2010-'11 Legacy and Outback vehicles.
  • A lubrication hole within the six-speed manual transmission was omitted, which could lead to the gears breaking.
  • A stop-sale order on the affected vehicles was issued to U.S. dealers on July 19.

    Quote from the article:

Subaru is recalling 809 Legacy and Outback vehicles from model years 2010 and '11 because the oil lubrication hole within the six-speed manual transmission transfer case had not been drilled, which could lead to the gears breaking, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. Subaru of America also issued a stop-sale order on the affected vehicles to its U.S. dealers on July 19.

The recall is expected to begin on August 6. Subaru dealers will repair the vehicles by drilling an oil lubrication hole, and, if necessary, replace the internal parts with new ones free of charge. Subaru of America also issued a letter to its U.S. dealers, telling them that affected vehicles with 6,250 or more miles will require replacement of the main shaft and 3rd through 6th gearset, according to other documentation filed with the federal government.

This follows another recall that started July 7th. You can read about that recall at http://www.pedaltothemetal.com/index.php/news_story/subaru_recalling_2010_outback_and_legacy_models_over_wiring_issue.html
