In its first year, Strike Force Raptor arrested 724 bikies, Police Minister Michael Daley said in a statement on Sunday.
Quote from the article:
| More than 1500 charges were laid, and cash exceeding $1 million confiscated by the strike force, which was set up following a fatal brawl at Sydney airport last year. In addition to the cash, 174 guns, 3700 rounds of ammunition, 13 explosive devices, five Tasers and 87 knives had been seized. Illicit drugs uncovered by officers attached to Strike Force Raptor include 2.2 kilograms of cannabis, 40 cannabis plants, more than 215 grams of cocaine and almost 450 ecstasy pills. "This government and police have made it clear that they will not tolerate criminals who think they can terrorise our community - and the work of Strike Force Raptor is proof of that," Mr Daley said. Strike Force Raptor was set up after Anthony Zervas, 29, was killed in a brawl in the domestic terminal at Sydney Airport in March 2009. Mr Zervas was the brother of senior Hells Angels member Peter Zervas. |
