Rolls Royce to Establish Waterjet Centre in Abu Dhabi Following New Order From UAE Navy.
Engine and power system manufacturer, Rolls-Royce (LSE: RR.) announced a new contract win, to supply 24 lightweight waterjets for the UAE Navy's fleet of fast patrol boats. The new order adds to the 150 Rolls-Royce waterjets already in service across the region. The FTSE100 constituent said it is working with Abu Dhabi Ship Building (ADSB) to establish a waterjet service centre in order ‘to provide in-service support for our growing customer base’.

"We are proud that the UAE Navy has again chosen our technology for their latest vessels”, Rolls-Royce Naval Marine Regional Manager, Jay Dagher commented, “This latest order underscores the strength of our relationship with both the UAE Navy and ADSB."

Two of the Kamewa FF600 waterjets, will be fitted to 12 new fast patrol boats which are currently under construction by ADSB. The waterjets are fitted with interceptors to enable tighter turning capability, better stability and to reduce fuel consumption.

Rolls-Royce is the only company to build interceptors on waterjets which are controlled with a waterjet control system known as the Incorporated Interceptor Control (IIC). As a result the company says it’s waterjets provide greater efficiency and time savings to ship-builders.
