ABATE teaches motorcycle safety
Motorcycles can be out year round, but with the warmer weather many more are on the road. ABATE of Indiana is reminding riders and other drivers to be safe.
The organization is a course on rider safety. The summer classes will provide training for about 500 motorcyclists in the South Bend area.

| “We don’t tell you not to indulge in alcohol &dmash; we just want you to separate it from riding,” said Richard Watson with ABATE. “Be aware that your judgment is impaired even at the first drink.”
Participants are required to wear protective gear, including a helmet, eye protection, long sleeves, long pants, gloves, and sturdy, over-the-ankle footwear. “We encourage people to ride with their full gear on all the time, because you never know when something may slip through the cracks and surprise you,” said Watson. Watson says motorcycle safety should be a concern for everyone on the road. |
