Audi A7 Sportback unveiled

The Audi A7 Sportback has been unveiled at an exclusive event in Germany this week. The Audio A7 is new rival to the Mercedes CLS four-door coupe and more practical BMW 5 Series GT.

"Slotting between the Audi A6 and Audi A8 saloons, the A7 offers the luxury of its bigger brother, with a more dynamic look and feel. Thanks to its hatchback it actually has a bigger boot than the A8, measuring 510 litres and expanding to 1,390 with the rear seats folded.

Prices will range from £42,925 for the entry-level, front-wheel drive 201bhp 3-litre TDI diesel and rise to £47,140 for the 296bhp 3-litre T Quattro supercharged petrol with four-wheel drive.

Front-wheel drive models will be fitted with Multitronic CVT automatic transmission, while Quattro A7s transmit their power to all four wheels via seven-speed, twin-clutch DSG system.

There’s no word yet on a hot S7 Sportback, or even quicker RS7 version but don’t be too surprised to see more powerful versions announced in time. In the meantime, A7 Sportback will be fitted with a range of six-cylinder engines boasting impressive performance and economy.

Two petrol engines of 2.8- and 3-litres deliver 201 and 296bhp respectively, while returning 35.3 and 34.5mpg. The larger engine car accelerate from 0-62mph in just 5.6 seconds."
