Bad Cop - Inform family that son is dead, oops wrong family
It is every parent's nightmare. A knock at the door by police who tell a family their son has been killed. But in this one case on Long Island it was all a terrible mistake.
Geri and Alfred Esposito were told the tragic news Saturday morning by Suffolk Police, who said their son Freddy, 26, was killed in a car crash in Pennsylvania, according to Newsday.

| The news was too devastating for the couple to bare as they clung to each other. "In my mind, it was pandemonium," Geri told Newsday. After several calls to family and tears of anguish, the phone rang. It was their son Freddy on the phone and he was ok. The confusion occurred at the fatal crash scene when State Police found Freddy's license in the hands of the one of the dead. Other Stony Brook University Students IDs were discovered and calls went out to local police departments asking them to notify families. |
