A five-year police veteran who just graduated from college after the Daytona Beach Police Foundation footed the bill, Wright surrendered at the Volusia County Branch Jail after she learned investigators had obtained arrest warrants, Chitwood said. The charges and the arrest of Wright follow a monthlong investigation of the police officer, launched after Robinson went to the police department to file a report. Chitwood said Wright cheated Robinson out of $48,000. The amount is composed of two car loans, the chief said -- one that Robinson co-signed for and one she didn't. This is the fourth time in less than a month that a law enforcement officer was nabbed in Volusia and Flagler counties. |
