The officer who initially pulled over Harrisburg Mayor Donnie “Buzzy” Faulkner early Friday morning has been suspended for one week without pay, Harrisburg Police Chief Butch Davis said.

Davis said Robert Wright was suspended Aug. 22 after Davis reviewed the circumstances behind Faulkner’s arrest on suspicion of second-offense driving while intoxicated, driving left of center, careless or prohibited driving and not wearing a seat belt. “I don’t have all the details, but I suspended him a week without pay,” Davis said. Davis said Wright would not contest the suspension. “I talked to Robert, and he said he felt like he was in a bad situation,” Davis said. Davis said Wright, who will return to work Sunday, worked for the department as an officer for several years before going to work as an officer in Tyronza. Wright returned to work with the Harrisburg Police Department about a year ago, Davis said. There was not a telephone listing for Wright in the Harrisburg area, and an attempt to reach Wright through his former employer in Tyronza was not successful. |
