Bad Cop? School bus episode costs Sarasota deputy his job [Video + Poll]

My thoughts on this? I have to admit it this is a catch 22 and the first time I have used "Bad Cop" followed by a question mark. The police were called in because the girl punched, kicked and threw a bottle at an aide on the bus. The girl supposedly had not taken her medicine and would not cooperate with the police. How did you think it would end girl? Had this been you or your loved ones, I don’t think you would really care; the situation had to be handled. It was already known that she was being violent so just like arriving at a domestic dispute; the police need to gain the upper hand. I bet pulling the Taser out would have got her ass up. No mention in the article of what her “special needs” are but it’s not a pass to ignore the law or hurt others. Since the medicine she failed to take was used to curb violent outbursts, you better hope it’s not you the next time the police are called. This won't be the last time we hear about this girl. Maybe next time we should leave the police department out of it and call in the nearest psych ward?

The quality and vantage point of the video is not the greatest - but, it seems to me that we have a police presence of several officers, at least 1 additional adult against this ONE GIRL with "special needs" (while unidentified, from the sound of her voice on the video, she has some developmental disability). How old is she? About 9, 10 maybe??? The cop throws her across the aisle into the opposite seat and tackles her, which seems excessive to me. Threatening the taser I have no problem with; had he tased her, different story.
To Kenn D - don't breed then - do you have any idea how difficult it is in most places (and rightfully so) to successfully sue a cop let alone get their job???
excessive

The girl needed to be arrested, but the cop didn't really need to throw her around the way he did. He could have easily cuffed her without the excessive force. Come on; she is a 10 year old special needs kid, not a gang banger...

Had you read the article, you would have seen she is 17, not 9 or 10 and that she takes medicine to curb violent outbursts. An educated guess would be bi-polar.

17 years old. Special needs sounds like a spin IMHO. This is why I said it's a catch 22 article. They make it sound like a young, mentally retarded child but never actually tell you what she has. Eventually they say she takes medicine to curb violent outbursts. I am sticking with bi-polar as my guess. Once she didnt cooperate with police she needed to be taken down like any criminal. Wasting any more time with this kid was a waste of resources, again IMHO.

Lets see;
She was already violent on the bus to an adult (aide)
Bus seems to be cleared of all but one kid, that take some time maybe end of stop.
This all took time, so I assume the parents of that kid or others were worried.
I assume the adults (bus driver and aide) told her to get off the bus, before calling.
I assume the firemen (three) told her to get off the bus before the police arrived.
You can heard the police being briefed about her kicking the aide.
You heard the police tell her three times to stand up. Simple request a downs kid would understand.
Police reaches for her and she bats away the police officer's hand.
Police grabs and restrains her in different seat away for her stuff (police safety)
She fights police and loses. She hears the threat of traser ok.
When she is told now she listen (no behavior problem now)
Little Brat just learned a lesson her parents failed to teach her.

This officer went to far. There is no need to throw this child around like that. I seen law enforcement officers under the same kind of circumstances handle situations like this without the need to get violent. He was fired for excessive use of force and rightly so. Other people I know in law enforcement admit that many officers tend to be arrogant and they seem to love to (mis)use the authority they have over others.

Thanks to the Libotards and others that have convinced kids now days that they can do what ever they want with out consequences you now have situations where law enforcement no longer wants to get involved for fear of losing their job for doing their job. And trust me most (not all) of the parents are just as bad as these kids. Stupid people shouldn't breed.
