A Pinellas County Jail Assistant Inmate Records Supervisor has been arrested for misdemeanor driving under the influence after she crashed through the Pinellas County Jail perimeter fence. Deputies responded to the crash at about 11:11 a.m. on Wednesday, July 7, 2010.

According to investigators, 42-year old Diane Ferron was leaving the jail facility in her personal vehicle. She exited the back parking lot of the jail and was driving on the jail's perimeter road when she lost control of her vehicle and drove through the exterior perimeter fence of the jail. Her vehicle continued on into the gravel lot of the City of Largo's wastewater treatment facility, where the vehicle came to a stop. Deputies responded to the scene and noticed that she appeared to be impaired. A Major Accident Investigation Team deputy respond to the scene to investigate. The deputy conducted a DUI investigation. Ferron was found to be under the influence of a chemical or controlled substance and not alcohol. Ferron was arrested for one-count misdemeanor DUI and one-count misdemeanor DUI with property damage. Ferron was not injured in the crash. Ferron is a non-sworn member of the Sheriff's Office. She is assigned to the Detention and Corrections Bureau Inmate Records Division at the Pinellas County Jail. Per agency policy, investigators from the Administrative Investigations Unit were notified of the arrest. The investigation continues.
