'Battle-hardened' McLaren have edge in F1 title race says team principal
Martin Whitmarsh, the McLaren principal, believes his "battle-hardened" team now hold the edge in this season's fight for the Formula One title. McLaren enjoyed their second successive one-two in yesterday's Canadian grand prix, when Jenson Button followed Lewis Hamilton passed the chequered flag. The win was Hamilton's 13th F1 victory and second in three attempts at Montreal.
Hamilton is the new frontrunner, three points ahead of his team-mate Jenson Button and six clear of Red Bull's Mark Webber, who finished fifth at the Circuit Gilles Villeneuve.
With two drivers who have won the last two titles, and with a team who were involved in championship challenges that went down to the wire in 2007 and 2008, McLaren's experience is an undoubted weapon.
