Fortunately, there was no crash, as the presumed pilot — former General Motors Co. Vice Chairman Bob Lutz — had landed safely.

"It's hilly terrain and to (the witness), it looked like (the pilot) went down, but he didn't," Chief Greg Amburgey with the Putnam Township Fire Department said. "The pilot landed safely.

"We know (Lutz) was up in his plane and flew in the area," he added. "He said he was flying in the area, but that doesn't mean he was doing anything wrong. We don't have confirmation it was him."
