Brabus Busts Out the Worlds Fastest Street-Legal SUV
At the Dubai Motor Show they went gaga over the Brabus GLK V12, a modified Mercedes-Benz billed as the world’s fastest street-legal SUV which made its world debut. Powered by a 750 hp 12-cylinder twin turbo engine, the vehicle set a new speed record of 322.3 km/h at the Nardo test track in October. We won’t bore you with the specifics of what Brabus’ engineering wonks did to the GLK Class’ motor; let’s just cut to the chase and note the thing can now do 0 – 100km/h in 4.2 seconds, and hits 200km/h in 12.8 seconds.
New air intakes and a carbon-fiber spoiler lip on the front apron, a four-pipe sports exhaust system, fender flares, a rear roof spoiler help manage the power boost. The interior gets upgraded too, of course, with full leather interior and Alcantara elements, an ergonomically shaped sport steering wheel and wood or carbon fibre trim for the dashboard, doors and center console. Custom consoles for the backs of the tuned-out truck’s front seats contain multimedia devices in case the passengers get bored between neck-snapping accelerations. Although for €397,000 they better not be.
