Brett Metcalfe Bio

Australian native Brett “Metty” Metcalfe burst into American Motocross in 2003 after racing since the tender age of four in his native country. Riding aboard the Red Bull KTM, Metcalfe earned a fifth-place overall in the Supercross Lites East series and 14th in the Motocross Lites class.
The following year, Metcalfe slipped downward slightly to eighth in Supercross and 17th outdoors. By 2005, Metcalfe joined Yamaha of Troy and won the Lites’ class at the U.S. Open of Supercross. He also made his debut in the West Region and earned a couple of top-five spots on his way to sixth overall, but continued to struggle in the Motocross division where he placed 18th.

During his final year as a Yamaha pilot, Metcalfe garnered top-ten spots in both the outdoors and Supercross before switching to the Pro Circuit Kawasaki team in 2007. After the switch to the green machine, Metcalfe finished seventh-overall in the Motocross Nationals despite missing the entire Supercross season and four rounds of the outdoor season.

He resigned with the Kawasaki squad for 2008 and enjoyed some success, earning a spot on the podium during three rounds and eventually fourth in the Supercross Lites West championship standings. He also placed third-overall in the Motocross Lites series.

Tenacious Metty Metcalfe returns in 2010 to chase his first SX and MX Lites title in America. But for 2009, Metcalfe made the jump to the GEICO Powersports Honda squad to pilot the CRF250R in both Supercross Lites and Motocross 250 and it seemed like things had started to click. He won the first round of Supercross season in Houston, but his celebration was short-lived when he broke his collarbone and then his wrist forcing him out for the remainder of the season. All healed-up, a determined Metcalfe came back for the 250 Motocross class later in the year and proved his mettle by fighting to 11 top-ten finishes putting him third in the championship race.
