BRP to establish its own Evinrude dealer network in Italy
Effective October 1, 2010, BRP will distribute its Evinrude outboard engines to the Italian market through its own dealer network.
The decision to commence direct commercial operations in Italy reflects BRP’s belief in the
future growth potential of its Evinrude business in the Italian market — the largest in Europe—
and its desire to provide enhanced support to boat owners and dealers. Over the past five
years, the Company has successfully assumed responsibility for direct distribution of its
products to an extensive network of European dealers that spans France, Spain, Germany,
Austria, Belgium, the Netherlands, Luxembourg, the United Kingdom and Ireland.
“This decision reiterates our commitment to the outboard industry worldwide,” said Chris
Dawson, vice-president and general manager of BRP's International division. “We feel strongly
about further enhancing our Evinrude presence in Italy and are committed to delivering an
exceptional value proposition to Italian consumers and dealers.” To that end, BRP is
establishing a direct presence in Italy. A new Milan office, scheduled to open October 1, will be
overseen by a regional commercial manager and will include a dedicated team of sales and
technical personnel to support the Evinrude outboard-engine dealer network.
“We appreciate the relationship we have had with our long-time distributor Italmarine and their
efforts to establish and support the Evinrude brand over the years,” Dawson said. “We will
continue to work together to ensure that the transition is as smooth as possible for our
customers.”
Distribution of Evinrude products through Italmarine will continue until September 30, 2010.
“Customers are our top priority as we implement this new approach,” Dawson stated,
emphasizing that spare parts and service will continue to be available through the Evinrude
dealer network.
The iconic Evinrude brand is more than 100 years old and synonymous with boating innovation.
BRP's current Evinrude E-TEC engine line-up includes 98 engine models ranging from 25- to
300-horsepower*, which offer a unique value proposition. Evinrude outboards are easy to own
