BTCC : Johnson overjoyed with first point
‘Minnow’ Martin Johnson is still beaming from ear to ear after scoring his first ever point in the HiQ MSA British Touring Car Championship.
Lincolnshire driver Johnson thought he’d lost his chance when David Pinkney overtook him for tenth at the next to last corner in the day’s final race at Snetterton on Sunday.
But when James Nash who’d crossed the line in first was later excluded by officials, Johnson was promoted to tenth and his first outright point in the BTCC.
It was a great reward for Johnson and his tiny Boulevard crew which also fields the oldest car on the grid – a 2001 BTC-spec Vauxhall Astra Coupe that in its heyday was the benchmark.
