Button appears in McLaren colours for the first time
Jenson Button has appeared in McLaren colours for the first time since his high-profile winter move from rival Brawn.
The world champion officially started life as a McLaren driver on January 1 following the expiration of his Brawn contract and his new squad posted a picture of him in its team uniform at its Woking base on its website, as well as a short video message to the team.
Button, who will race alongside fellow Briton Lewis Hamilton in 2010, said: “Hi everyone. Happy New Year.
“It’s a real pleasure to be a part of the Vodafone McLaren Mercedes team and I’m looking forward to working with you all in 2010.”
Although Button is now contractually free to start work with his new employer, the ongoing testing ban means he won’t drive its 2010 car until pre-season testing begins at the start of February.
Meanwhile, Button’s former Brawn team-mate Rubens Barrichello has posted a picture of himself in new team Williams’s race suit on his Twitter page.
The Brazilian veteran will partner German rookie Nico Hulkenberg in an all-new line-up at the Grove squad this year.
