Button quickest in opening Canadian GP practice
McLaren's Jenson Button led the way in opening practice for this weekend's Canadian Grand Prix at Montreal's Circuit Gilles Villeneuve after a pretty quiet first session. Button posted the quickest time, a 1 minute 18.127 seconds, around two thirds of the way into FP1, and that left him 0.158 seconds up on Michael Schumacher, who was 'best of the rest' for Mercedes. Lewis Hamilton and Mercedes man Nico Rosberg meanwhile were third and fourth respectively, split by less 0.004 seconds and only slightly slower than their team-mates.
Sebastian Vettel put in a flier late on and finished in fifth in his Red Bull, with Robert Kubica's Renault and Fernando Alonso's Ferrari sixth and seventh, the latter the last of the runners in the 1 minute 18 seconds.
