Cop retires to go make doughnuts
Those old jokes about cops loving doughnuts may be true, and some people in his downstate county may be chuckling, but retiring Christian County Sheriff Bob Kindermann says he's excited to start a new career making doughnuts.
Kindermann, 53, said he isn't bothered by the wisecracks — from those in and out of law enforcement — because, after 30 years of police work, he's just excited to exchange his badge for an apron and return to his food-service roots.

| After he leaves his post at the end of this month, Kindermann will be making doughnuts at a Springfield hospital's new Dunkin' Donuts, a job he said offers more than just easy access to fried-dough goodness. "It's a form of service, and I wanted to find a position like that," he said. "A lot of people come to the sheriff's office seeking answers or resolutions to neighborhood problems — that's what I've liked most about the job." |
