Crist signs Fla. bill legalizing red light cameras
Red light cameras will be fully legal in Florida as of July 1. AAA, formerly the American Automobile Association, had urged a veto, arguing the bill (HB 325) was more about money than safety.
The new law has been dubbed the Mark Wandall Traffic Safety Act after a Bradenton man killed by red-light runner in 2003. His wife, Melissa, led efforts to get the law passed. Lawmakers had repeatedly refused to do so until this year.
