Day 1 qualifying
Welcome to Friday: Welcome to Friday, day two of the 24th annual O'Reilly Super Start Batteries NHRA Fall Nationals. After a day yesterday of Sportsman time trials and qualifying passes in Comp, Super Stock, and Stock, today it's time, in the parlance of the region, for the Full Throttle pros to "cowboy up" with their first two of four qualifying passes.
Yesterday's scattered rainshowers have given way to clear Texas skies. Today will be the coolest of the remaining three days with a high of 80, while Sunday is projected to get as warm as 92.
This morning's schedule calls for the beginning of some Sportsman eliminations, two more rounds of Comp qualifying, and two rounds of alcohol-car qualifying, the first of which takes place at 12:30. The Pros will take to the all-concrete track today at 2 and 4:45 p.m..
