DeLorean set for a revival?
DeLorean Motor Company is planning a revival with the defunct Pontiac Solstice.
GM canned both Pontiac and Saturn which left its Kappa rear-wheel-drive platform car-less. The Kappa platform was intended for the Solstice roadster scheduled for production at GM's Wilmington plant in Delaware, US, but GM shut the facility down.
According to a message from DMC on Facebook the company's management is considering reviving the brand with a new car based on the Pontiac Solstice.
At present DMC does little more than service old DeLoreans but DMC has reportedly acquired a Pontiac Solstice GXP Coupe for evaluation.
The company has released the above drawings and the message says DMC is excited about the prospect of 'putting several hundred people back to work' in Wilmington.
James Espey, Vice President of the DeLorean Motor Company, said 'JZD (John Zachary DeLorean) always said that the best memories of his automotive career were at Pontiac, and that connection between JZD and Pontiac is probably one of the better known associations among car enthusiasts.'
