Devon GTX Project Canceled due to Viper Discontinuation
Powered by an 8.4-liter V-10 engine, the Devon GTX set two unofficial track records last year during testing at Laguna Seca and Willow Springs. The GTX was based on a Dodge Viper platform and used an aircraft-quality carbon fiber body to save weight.
Designed as a "quintessentially American" vehicle, Devon Motorworks had planned to sell 36 vehicles per year. Ultimately Devon wasn't comfortable with the volume commitment a partner required to keep the project going.
Despite the fact we hardly knew the GTX, we're going to mourn the project's death.
