Quote from the article:
| Jeremy Ashley Winkel, of Austin, received a 15-month prison term stayed for more than seven years of probation after pleading guilty in October in Mower District Court to single felony counts of motor-vehicle theft and fleeing police in a motor vehicle. Winkel stole the squad car of an Austin police officer who was searching for Winkel on foot with a police dog May 21 in relation to an assault report at a rural Lyle residence. The officer and deputy realized the squad was stolen when they heard an unfamiliar voice over law-enforcement radio, which was Winkel in the squad asking what they intended to do with him. |
