Quad bike owners are urged to be on their guard as police launch a fresh crackdown on farm machinery crime.
The Dyfed-Powys force has launched a fresh crackdown on the rural crime with a series of "anti-burglary operations".
Farmers are being urged to record the serial and chassis numbers of their tractors and trailers.
Officers are also advising them to use a liquid forensic coding system on their equipment.
Sergeant Kelvin Briggs of Dyfed-Powys Police said: "We advise owners of quad bikes and farm equipment such as tractors and trailers to record the serial and chassis numbers, and to photograph their bikes and document any distinctive marks.
'Powerful tools'
"In addition, using the innovative liquid forensic coding system - Smartwater - is an effective deterrent and assigns each user with their own DNA-style code, providing property with a forensic link back to the owner.
"This product is one of the many powerful tools available to the police and the wider community to stop criminals in their tracks - especially in isolated areas.
"As a modern police service, we are prepared to use any new technologies available to assist in our fight against crime."
Sgt Briggs also advised people to lock their quad bikes away when they were not in use and attach them with locks and wheels clamps.
He suggested owners mark or customise their bikes to make them "less attractive to thieves".
