Ferrari boss Luca di Montezemolo stated.... We Did Not Need Raikkonen

Ferrari President Luca di Montezemolo has stated Ferrari needed to change the team's line up for the 2010 season, asserting bringing Fernando Alonso on as a driver to be necessary for improvement. While not rejecting Raikkonen's contributions to the Scuderia, it does seem di Montezemolo has still snubbed the Finn.
This is what the Luca had to say on the matter:

"Let's make one thing clear, we were very happy with everything Kimi did for Ferrari during his time at Maranello; he won the World Championship in his first year and played a vital part in our taking of the Constructors' title in his second year, while in this difficult season he at least managed to secure us one victory.

"However, we were aware that something else was needed for the way we operate and therefore... we decided to try and bring Alonso on-board a year ahead of schedule.

Now, it is time to turn the page and get Ferrari back to its rightful place. I have a lot of faith in this team which, let us not forget, has won three titles in three years and lost a fourth in a manner that everyone remembers."

I wonder though, if Raikkonen was so instrumental in Ferrari's success, why it was necessary to remove him. More over, why would Ferrari elect to bring keep Felipe Massa over Raikkonen, when Massa's results have similar and he is in uncertain physical condition.

Clearly there exist more fundamental problems with Raikkonen's relationship to Ferrari. While Alonso is certainly a positive addition, Kimi has left in a rather odd manner.
