First Look: 2011 Cadillac CTS-V Coupe

Cadillac's sexy new coupe is getting even racier with the high-performance 2011 CTS-V Coupe that will debut at the 2010 Detroit auto show. Powered by a supercharged V-8 making 556 hp and 551 lb-ft of torque, Cadillac says the newest V-series car will run to 60 mph in 3.9 seconds.

While the CTS-V Coupe bears an uncanny resemblance to the sedan, the two cars only share the instrument panel, console, headlamps, front fenders, and grille. The coupe is two inches shorter in both height and length than the sedan, but maintains the same wheelbase. The rear track of the coupe adds an inch to that of the sedan. Compared to the standard CTS Coupe, the V-series car has a larger grille, raised hood center, and unique fascias. The centered exhaust is retained, but there are now two outlets instead of one.

Hardware is almost a direct carryover from the sedan. Power comes from the 6.2-liter LSA and gears are chosen with either a six-speed manual transmission or a six-speed automatic with paddle shifters. An Eaton supercharger sits on top of the engine and is the reason that the CTS-V requires a raised hood. The suspension is damped by Cadillac's Magnetic Ride Control, which can be set to either Tour or Sport mode. Brembo supplies the stopping hardware, with vented and slotted rotors, six-piston calipers up front, and four-pot clampers in the rear. Nineteen-inch cast aluminum wheels are available in either painted or polished finishes. CTS-V Coupes will come from the factory with Michelin Pilot Sport 2 tires.

Inside, there's a new saffron interior accent trim option. As on the sedan, a set of 14-way adjustable Recaro seats is optional, offering pneumatic bolsters on both the seat cushions and backrests. Cadillac hasn't announced pricing yet, but expect a slight premium over the $62,845 CTS-V sedan when the coupe arrives this summer.
