Former Hells Angels sues FX over Sons of Anarchy
A former NYC chapter president of the Hells Angels is claiming that cable network FX misappropriated his idea for a show which has left him high and dry over millions of dollars.
In the filed documents, Zito states that he entered into an "implied-in-fact contract" with FX which guaranteed him that if they used his concept for a television show, Zito would be "reasonably compensated and afforded appropriate screen credits." Zito claims FX eventually passed on the project.

Quote from the article:
Chuck Zito - 1%'er turned actor - states in his lawsuit that he developed the idea of a show about an outlaw motorcycle club in 1998 and it was pitched to FX in 2004. It bears mentioning that for each series picked up by a network, literally thousands are turned down. When FX began developing "Sons of Anarchy" in 2006, Zito was miffed to put it mildly, and began claiming "Sons" was "substantially similar" to his motorcycle show idea. Kurt Sutter is the producer and writer of SOA and has stated in many interviews that he did substantial research into ensuring the series is authentic is possible and still be able to be aired on TV. |
