Frankfurt preview: Citroen DS3
Citroen has released pictures and full details of its Mini-rivalling DS3 supermini due to make its debut at the Frankfurt Motor Show next month.
The car is based on the next C3 - not due until next year - and these latest pictures show that it has remained fairly close to the DS concept that made its debut at Geneva this year.
Styling-wise it's almost identical to the concept - twin tailpipes replace the oversized single exhaust on the concept - but the basic bodyshape is the same.
As we predicted earlier this summer, the 'shark fin' near the B-pillar remains as does the fully glazed rear. The car is 3.95m long and 1.71mm wide and although it's very similar in size to the Ford Fiesta, Citroen says it's a rival to the Fiat 500 and the Mini.
There are five seats and a 285-litre boot, which is comparable to that of the Fiesta but much more than that in the 500 or Mini.
Like the Mini, buyers can customise. The roof, for example, can come in black, white, blue and red. Door mirrors can be specified in body colour or chrome and there are a number of colour choices available for the wheels.
