Friday qualifying leaders Larry Dixon, Mike Edwards, and Eddie Krawiec held onto their No. 1 seeds through a hot Saturday at Texas Motorplex as the fields were set for Sunday's final eliminations at the 24th annual O'Reilly Super Start Batteries NHRA Fall Nationals presented by Castrol Syntec.
Edwards became the first racer under NHRA's new bonus qualifying system to score maximum points, earning three points in each of the event's four qualifying sessions as that particular session's quickest driver. With the points battles still close in this, the second of six events in NHRA's Countdown to 1 playoffs, those small points can become large in a hurry.
