Fulton man arraigned in road-rage case, as dead victim's family watches
Quote from the article:
William L. Levea entered the plea at his arraignment in Cayuga County Court. More than one dozen family members of the victim, Christopher J. Spack, appeared in court to witness the proceeding. Spack, 41, was killed on the night of Nov. 20 along Route 370 in Cato, when sheriff’s deputies say, Levea rammed Spack’s pickup truck into the path of an oncoming pickup. Spack died at the scene and the other driver was injured. “We’re here for Chris, because he can’t be here to defend himself,” said Spack’s mother, Lenore Ellis. She and the other family members wore stickers on their coats that said, “In loving memory of Christopher J. Spack. Ride in peace.” At the arraignment, County Judge Thomas G. Leone denied bail application for Levea, who has a violent criminal history. Leone said he feared Levea’s family could not prevent him from committing a similar crime if he were set free on bail. “I don’t have any faith that if Mr. Levea was placed back in the community he or his family has the ability to protect the community,” the judge said. Levea faces a prison term of 25 years to life, if convicted on the second-degree murder charge. |
