GM's Cadillac cuts CTS sport wagon price to avoid conflict with SRX crossover
Cadillac cut prices on its new-for-2010 CTS sport wagon earlier this month to make it more competitive against the brand's own SRX crossover SUV. "People would come in, see the price of the SRX and lose interest in the wagon," says John Howell, vice president in charge of Cadillac products worldwide.

Quote from the article:
Price of the base model -- 3-liter V-6, rear-wheel drive -- now is $39,150 including shipping, down from $40,485, Caddy says. This week's Test Drive test model, a loaded AWD version, was $51,390, down $3,055 from an initial $54,445. SRX starts at $34,155. A loaded AWD version is about $50,000. Cadillac doesn't see the two as direct rivals, though buyers apparently were threatening to. The automaker's data show that the SRX crossover will be bought mainly by women, the CTS sport wagon by men, and often will share the garage with a sports car. |
