Harley will possibly solve murder case
Detectives are asking for help to locate a stolen $20,000 motorcycle, which could be the key to solving the murder of Luke Ogilvie.
Tweed Byron Police are investigating the circumstances of Mr Ogilvie’s death, after his charred remains were found following a suspicious house fire in Bilambil in the early hours of March 26.
Crime Manager Detective Inspector Shane Diehm said post-mortem examinations were still determining if Mr Ogilvie, 50, died before or after the fire.

| “We’re treating it as a murder investigation,” he said. Tweed Byron Police with the assistance of State Crime Command’s Homicide Squad last month established Strike Force Daruk to investigate Mr Ogilvie’s death. Investigators were seeking public assistance to locate Mr Ogilvie’s $20,000 Queensland-registered Harley Davidson motorcycle, missing from his Urliup Road house. “We believe the Harley Davidson holds the key to solving this,” Det Insp Diehm said. “This motorcycle was last seen being pushed by two men heading east along Gollan Drive, Tweed Heads, between 2.30am and 5am on March 26. “We have received information the men abandoned the Harley along Gollan Drive after it ran out of petrol and soon after were picked up by the driver of a maroon sedan. |
