Two podium finishes in GT2 for American Porsche specialist
An American at heart but Canadian by birth, Darren Law will return north of the border with Johannes van Overbeek in one of Flying Lizard Motorsports’ GT2 Porsches for Mobil 1 presents the Grand Prix of Mosport. Law’s appearance at Mosport International Raceway will be his first there in American Le Mans Series competition since 2005.
“It's great! It's got a lot of grip and Michelin provides an unbelievable tire, so it makes it a lot of fun,” said Law, who will make his sixth start of the season behind the wheel of the No. 44 Porsche 911 GT3 RSR. “The track is one of the toughest in North America, but one of the most fun tracks as well.”
Law grew up in the United States, but he was born in Canada in 1968. His parents lived in Toronto while his father Peter worked with Penske Racing and Canadian driver Craig Fisher. Fisher teamed with Penske driver Mark Donohue to win the Trans-Am class and finish third overall in the 1968 12 Hours of Sebring. Fisher also was the first Canadian to win a Trans-Am race, with Donohue in 1968.
The Law family returned to the United States when Peter Law joined the Donohue car crew.
