A suspected car thief in Springfield, OR, made a fatal decision to turn his lights off during a high speed chase with police, which ended with him being pinned behind the wheel of the vehicle after it hit a tree.
The Register Guard newspaper reported that 21-year-old Christopher Lee Rose fled police in a stolen 1994 Honda Prelude about 1 a.m. Sunday morning. While on the run, Lee reportedly turned off the car’s lights in an attempt to elude police.
