Injured man survives four days in swamp
Thomas Wopat-Moreau, 22, was found alive trapped near his car where he drove it off the Taconic State Parkway early Sunday morning.
"It's a miracle. He's been out there for four and half days by himself just waiting for help," said Capt. Scott Brown of New York State Police.
Authorities believe the East Village man crawled out the window of the mangled mess of his mother's BMW, but was unable to move any farther because of serious back injuries.
Most people suffering similar injuries for so long would not have survived, according to police, but the 22-year-old, they said, had an incredibly strong will to live.
