Jack Kevorkian's 'Death Bus' Goes to Auction via eBay

VW parts expert Jack Finn is putting Jack Kevorkian's infamous "death bus" on the auction block. Kevorkian allegedly used the bus for assisting terminal patients in committing suicide. Finn, who sold VW parts to Kevorkian over several years, purchased the notorious Volkswagen van in 1997 prior to Kevorkian's incarceration. Finn has been storing the 1968 Volkswagen Bus/Vanagon unused in a warehouse in what he describes as basically the same condition as when it was used by Kevorkian.
Whoever buys the bus will be investing in a piece of authenticated history including all its faults according to Finn.

The aging VW comes complete with the transfer of ownership title signed by Kevorkian. Like Kevorkian, his "death bus" has a police record having been impounded repeatedly by police as part of their suicide investigations.
"The bus is the real deal, not a romanticized copy such as what is used in the HBO movie, 'You Don't Know Jack'," says Finn. "The vehicle drove in under its own power but to use the bus on the road today would require bringing it up to current standards. Although the vehicle may actually move and stop under its own power, it's being sold as a collector's item, not a drivable bus."
Finn, a former automotive engineer who turned his frustration with his first Volkswagen Beetle into a career supplying hard-to-find parts via mail order for do-it-yourself VW owners, has decided it is time to clear out the warehouse and sell the infamous bus. The bus was listed Thursday, April 22 on eBay.com. To find the listing, Google "kevorkian death bus" or "jack death bus". The eBay link is Volkswagen : Bus/Vanagon : eBay Motors (item 280496980810 end time Apr-29-10 12:01:02 PDT)
The vehicle has been offered to The Henry Ford and Smithsonian Museums as well as being posted on eBay.
According to Wikipedia, Kevorkian, who became known in the 1990s as "Doctor Death," advocated for terminal patients' right to die via physician-assisted suicide. Kevorkian claimed to have assisted in the deaths of at least 130 people. Between 1999 and 2007, Kevorkian served eight years of a 10-25 year prison sentence for second-degree murder.
Finn says that Kevorkian has not asked to visit the bus since his early release for good behavior.

Jack Kevorkian's death bus You Don't Know Jack. For sale is the actual bus which (which the police say) was used by Jack Kevorkian to assist putting people to death in the back of his bus. Jack sold it to me in 1997 before his incarceration. It is complete and has been sitting unused in a warehouse ever since. It is in basically the same condition as when it was used.
The vehicle drove in under it's own power but the engine had a rod knock. The vehicle most likely is not roadworthy and if anyone were to try to use this as a vehicle used on the road, it would have to be brought up to current standards. We are telling you that this bus is absolutely not safe to drive. All safety systems on the vehicle would have to be completely overhauled. Although the vehicle may actually move and stop under its own power, it's not being sold as a drivable bus.
Vehicle is in substantially "as used" condition with the exception that it does not have the original steering wheel. VIN numbers etc. etc. match the title. All paperwork is proper and signed with Jack's signature.
Serious buyers only. We are not doing free tours of the vehicle nor are we allowing you to climb in and out of it nor photograph it.
This is the REAL DEAL. Not some romanticized copy like what was used in the movie.
To further authenticate that this is the actual vehicle: Jack's bus was impounded multiple times during his escapades and the VIN number of his vehicle is recorded in various police logs and matches the VIN number of the vehicle we are selling; this I believe is the best authentication possible. The reverse side of the title has Jack's signature, dates, etc. Jack's street address on the photo of the title has been blacked out to protect his privacy. The actual title is not altered.
The pictures shown are the actual polaroid pictures taken on the day it was purchased. The bus is in substantially the same condition although dirtier and a little the worse for wear. It hasn't been driven since I bought it. Serious buyers of this thing are not buying its beauty or usefulness as a bus. They are investing in a piece of authenticated history...with all its faults.
Buyer will have to sign a statement written by our lawyer acknowledging this vehicle will not be driven and certainly not driven as is.
Upon end of auction, buyer is required to make an immediate paypal deposit of $500 and mail a certified check from Bank of America for $1000 which must be received within 24 hours by Federal Express.
