Jaguar XJ's dual-display illegal in US
Jaguar may have stolen the headlines with the new XJ's controversial exterior styling but it has come a cropper with its interior design.
The XJ's dual-view display on the centre console is state-of-the-art, but in its current guise it is illegal in America.
American law prohibits front-seat entertainment systems on the basis that it will be too much of a distraction for the driver. That law rules out use of dual-view technology feeding different images to driver and passenger from a single screen.
Jaguar accepts that the system is 'technically illegal' in the US and that early models will not feature the dual-view screen unless there is a change in the law.
