Jason Meyers claims another World of Outlaws win
It was Jason Meyers who had everyone talking by the night's end, though. Meyers' late-race heroics enabled him to win the 30-lap World of Outlaws feature race and the $10,000 first-place prize.
Quote from the article:
| Saturday's program attracted about 6,000 fans, and they had to wait out a nearly 45-minute delay prior to the Modified feature when a bird took out the lights. Track officials were able to set up portable lights in the turn one infield so racing could resume. The delay was hardly enough to cool off Meyers, who won his series-high sixth feature race of the season and second consecutive at I-96. "It was unfortunate that the fans had to sit through that, but they were all good natured through the delay and the track worked hard to get the lights back up for us," Meyers said. "It turned out to be a great race." I-96 owner Mike Mouch had purchased portable lights during the offseason. “With the econonmy being so bad, we have been able to pick up equipment at auctions for pretty good prices,” Mouch said. “We bought three sets of lights last winter because I figured if we were ever to lose power, it probably would happen on our biggest night of the year. We would have been in trouble if we hadn’t bought them. We would have had a lot of upset people.” |
