J.C. France Proves NASCAR's Drug Tolerance Standards Are A Lot More About Image Than About Protecting The Sport
On Friday J.C. France and officials of the NASCAR owned and operated Grand-Am Road Racing Series went miles in showing that the drug policies employed by NASCAR in its most visible divisions are more about good old positive PR than protecting and ensuring any sort of safe racing environment.
Quote from the article:
J.C. France is the son of Jim France, a NASCAR board member who was until last June the CEO of the France family controlled International Speedway Corporation. Jim France is the brother of former NASCAR chairman Bill France Jr. and the son of NASCAR founder Bill France Sr. It was reported Friday by the Daytona Beach News-Journal that charges of driving under the influence and drug possession against J.C. France were dropped by a Florida judge because of a technicality. Last October, J.C. France was stopped by Daytona Beach police after he was observed in a 2007 Lamborghini racing on a public road against his half-brother Russell Van Richmond. According to police reports J.C. France was found with a bag of cocaine and was charged with drug possession and driving under the influence. |
