Lucas, Force Hood, Edwards, Arana jump to early leads in Reading
The opening day at Maple Grove Raceway was restricted to one session after persistent rain showers limited activity for a good part of the day. After a clear morning that featured a bunch of Lucas Oil Sportsman racing, the skies opened up at about 2 p.m., bringing the action to a dead stop. On and off showers hampered attempts to dry the track, but ultimately the wait proved worth it as the rain stopped and the NHRA Safety Safari was able to dry the track, and the Pros finally took to the track at 6 p.m
Coming off wins last weekend in Brainerd, Morgan Lucas and Hector Arana continued their hot streaks, pacing the Toyo Tires NHRA Nationals Top Fuel and Pro Stock Motorcycle fields, respectively. Joining the duo atop the sheets were Ashley Force Hood (Funny Car) and Mike Edwards (Pro Stock).
