Lutz to be reassigned in GM shakeup, reports say
General Motors Co. will give a new role to Vice Chairman Bob Lutz as Chairman Ed Whitacre overhauls the company's management following the ouster of CEO Fritz Henderson, news reports said.
Bloomberg News said Whitacre, who became interim CEO following Henderson's departure three days ago, is building a team until a replacement chief executive can be found.
The Wall Street Journal said Lutz will have a new role as younger managers are given “more prominent” positions.
Bloomberg cited a GM spokeswoman saying an employee announcement will be made at 9 a.m. ET.
Lutz, 77, GM's product chief for most of the decade, announced plans to retire at the start of the year. He later reconsidered and became vice chairman in charge of marketing.
