The teen accused of stealing a Metrobus and crashing into a tree told Metro Transit Police he had a fascination with buses, and even followed the proper bus route.

Metro Transit Police say William Jackson, 19, was wearing a bus driver's uniform when he walked into the Bladensburg bus depot Friday afternoon, hopped into bus 93-18 and took the bus out of the lot.
Metro Transit Police Capt. Ronald Pavlik says Jackson even followed the standard B2 route before hitting a tree at 17th Street and Massachusetts Avenue, SE around 4:15 p.m., Friday.
"He did pick up several passengers along the route," says Metro Transit Police Captain Ronald Pavlik. "He picked up eight passengers, according to him."
After striking the tree, a witness called 911 and D.C. police attempted to pull over the bus at 15th Street and Potomac Avenue, SE. Police say Jackson ran away, but was caught a few blocks away.
