Minneapolis Boat Show opens Jan. 20
The 38th annual Minneapolis Boat Show will be Jan. 20-24 at the Minneapolis Convention Center.
In addition to the latest boats and accessories, visitors to the 2010 Minneapolis Boat Show can experience a variety of interactive features.
Pirates of Colonial America — This interactive exhibit offers the chance to step into the life of a colonial American pirate. Both children and adults can learn about 19th century pirate life with historic artifacts, buried treasure, period shops and more.
Online Boat Shopping — Visit MinneapolisBoatShow.com to plan ahead and search boats by brand and model, schedule appointments with exhibitors and get a first-hand look at some of the boats that will be at the show.
Wakeboard Rail Jam — Making its debut in Minneapolis, the Rail Jam brings out top wakeboard and water-ski pros to demonstrate the latest in extreme water sports skills and tricks and the hottest gear. Viewers can catch the action from just a few feet away in a giant pool inside the Minneapolis Convention Center.
Taste of Lakes Opening Night Experience (5-8 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 20) — Be the first to view, board and buy the latest boats and gear, and enjoy live music, drink specials and samples from lake restaurants including Maynard’s, Sunsets, Lola’s Lakehouse, Captain Jack’s, Zorbaz and more. A portion of the admission proceeds will benefit the Ronald McDonald House within Children’s Hospitals and Clinics of Minnesota.
Affordability Pavilion — In its third year, this area showcases boats for the budget-conscious.
SailFest Seminar Series — This annual offering features local experts who share their experiences and first-hand accounts of navigating the open seas.
Boating Safety Center — Learn the rules of the water, how to navigate a boat to safety in a storm, and the latest in safety techniques at this hands-on area.
SpongeBob SquarePants will make a special appearance from noon to 3 p.m. Jan. 23 and 24.
Show hours are 5-10 p.m. Jan. 20; noon to 10 p.m. Jan. 21-22; 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Jan. 23; and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Jan. 24, at the Minneapolis Convention Center, 1301 Second Ave. S.
Tickets can be purchased in advance at www.MinneapolisBoatShow.com or at the door for $10 adults (16 and older); $5 for ages 13-15. Children 12 and under, and active military are free.
