Monsters attack Mississippi - Monster Trucks that is
Quote from the article:
| The spectacle of monster trucks and airborne bikes draws about 10,000 people to the arena over its three-day run. Sights, sounds and stunts are the pull. "You don't usually see a 15- or 16-horsepower pickup truck driving down the road with 72-inch tires on it," says Tom Bougus, president of TBO Entertainment, which has been producing and promoting the shows for more than 25 years. The show's been a Jackson staple and a steady draw here for about 10 years. "He has a good following ... and it's the only Monster Truck show we have all year," the coliseum's Jake Hutchins says of the family-oriented show. The motor events' trend toward freestyle will be evident in this show. "The freestyle thing is taking over as the most popular part of the monster truck show, as opposed to side-by-side racing," where vehicles don't really have enough distance indoors to determine a winner, Bougus says. Hence, the best part of the show gets bigger and better. "The monsters out there do whatever they want," with enthusiastic crowd applause determining the winner. Billed as a ramp to ramp freestyle war on the floor, the show also features freestyle Motocross jumpers, freestyle BMX bikes and the freestyle H-Bomb quads. "Some of the stuff they do is incredible," Bougus says of tricks 40 feet in the air. The show has a wide appeal. "I've been in business 25 years and we've tried to pinpoint a demographic, but it's across the board." Women even have their own pro to root for - driver Shelley Kujat in her Shell-Camino. "She's really stealing the show. As a matter of fact, in Augusta, Ga., she beat Bearfoot, a three-time world champion.
