Motorcycle tribute to fallen officers: Motorcycle ride across Florida to honor slain law enforcement officers
Hundreds of motorcyclists will embark Saturday on a weeklong ride around the state in memory of eight Florida law enforcement officers killed in the line of duty last year.

The group also is riding in memory of Broward Sheriff's Office Sgt. Chris Reyka, who was gunned down outside a Pompano Beach Walgreens in August 2007. The case remains unsolved. This is the second year the motorcyclists have banded together. Last year's event focused on Reyka, and the tribute has grown to include stops in Florida where other Florida law enforcement officers have been slain. "We're going all the way around the state," said Broward Sheriff's Deputy Brian Donnelly, who organized the ride. "We're stopping in each county where a law enforcement officer was killed." Donnelly was the first deputy to reach Reyka after he was shot, and organized the first ride last year to raise money for Reyka's family, who lives in Wellington. |
