Some sad news to pass along to you this afternoon. Auto legend Bob Tasca, Sr. died early this morning. The 83-year old was hospitalized around Christmas.
Tasca began working for Ford in 1943 and later established the Cranston-run Tasca Auto Group.

Over the years, he maintained a close relationship with the Ford company.

Governor Carcieri extended his sympathies to the family, saying Rhode Island has lost one exceptional businessman.

Also, the following statement was released by Alan Mulally, President and CEO of the Ford Motor Company:

"All of us at Ford are extremely saddened by the passing of Bob Tasca, Sr. Bob was both a wonderful person and a true visionary in how he approached selling cars and trucks. Bob always put the customer first and had an intuitive sense of what the car buyers want.

Bob truly loved the auto industry, was a valued contributor and partner to Ford and had a legendary passion for racing. He will be sorely missed. Bob's passion for serving with the very best cars and trucks will always be with us. We extend our condolences to the extended Tasca family. "
