North Myrtle Beach rally plans move forward

Former Horry County Councilman Mark Lazarus and current Councilman Harold Worley have turned in the paperwork for a special events permit from North Myrtle Beach.
The pair hopes to start a five day motorcycle convention for the official Harley Davidson Owners Group, known as HOG. They say it will bring tourists to the area who wouldn't otherwise come now that Myrtle Beach has new anti-bike rally laws.

Right now, they expect to present their plans to North Myrtle Beach City Council during their February 1st council meeting.

During a presentation to the North Myrtle Beach Chamber of Commerce, Lazarus and Worley revealed that the convention would center itself around an area near the Ocean Drive Pavilion and allow for the accommodation of multiple vendors as well as smooth traffic flow.

Harley-Davidson officials say the North Myrtle Beach area is the company's top choice for the five-day event held each year during the week before Memorial Day. It would be the only biker event held in North Myrtle Beach for the year.
